Privacy policy

This policy covers talleyland.com, operated by Talley Land Development, Ltd. It describes what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be impressive.
What we collect
What you send us. If you use the inquiry form, we receive your name, email address, your phone number if you choose to give one, and whatever you write in the message. If you call or email us directly, we have whatever that conversation contains.
What your browser sends. Our host records ordinary web server information, including your IP address, the pages requested, and your browser type. This is standard for any website and is used to keep the site running and secure.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site, which sets cookies in your browser. We have turned off Google's optional data sharing settings, so this data is not contributed to Google's advertising products, modeling or benchmarking.
We ask first. Analytics does not load until you accept. If you decline, or simply never answer, nothing is loaded and no analytics cookies are set. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we treat that as a decline and do not ask. You can also block these cookies in your browser or with an extension, and the site will work normally either way.
Fonts. Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
We do not ask for and do not want financial details, government identifiers, or any sensitive personal information through this site. Do not send them through the inquiry form.
Why we have it
- To answer your inquiry and, if you want us to, to keep talking about land.
- To keep the site working, fast, and free of abuse.
- To understand in aggregate which pages are useful.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not send marketing email to people who have not asked for it.
Who else touches it
We use a small number of service providers to run the site.
- Amazon Web Services hosts the site and delivers inquiry emails. It acts on our instructions and for no purpose of its own.
- Google provides analytics and serves the typefaces. Google is not purely acting for us here, which is why we turned its optional data sharing settings off. You can block the analytics cookies and nothing on this site stops working.
We may also share information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
If a transaction proceeds, information you give us may be shared with the parties needed to complete it, such as a title company, lender, surveyor or attorney. We will tell you when that happens.
How long we keep it
Inquiries stay in our email records so we can pick up a conversation that started months ago. Long gaps are normal in land sales. Analytics data expires on Google's standard retention schedule. Ask us to delete your inquiry and we will, unless we are required to keep it.
What you can ask for
Texas residents, and residents of other states with comparable privacy laws, have rights over their personal data. Whatever your state, you can write to us and ask to:
- see what personal information we hold about you;
- have it corrected if it is wrong;
- have it deleted;
- stop hearing from us.
Email info@talleyland.com and say what you want. We will need enough information to be confident you are who you say you are, and we will not charge you for a reasonable request.
Children
This site is for adults buying and selling land. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.
Other sites
Where we link out, for example to the Texas Real Estate Commission, that site has its own policy and we are not responsible for it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If the change is significant, we will say so on the site rather than hope you notice.
